This July, we celebrated Nic, one of our Community Befrienders. Nic’s volunteering has made a massive difference to an isolated Hackney resident (T) with depression who was regularly going to A&E.
Every member is different, with their own unique story, own memories and experiences, good and bad, but they are fighting for a better future, even though its hard they stick with Step Up, for however long it takes. Every member of Step Up has their own unique strength, and I’m happy that I can give a little support to get them to a better place.
Refugee Week runs from the 19th-25th June this year, and celebrates the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. Since the theme for this year is compassion, we’d like to share a few ways you can gift your time as a volunteer to support refugees and asylum seekers.
