Our Together Better service empowers volunteers to run free activities at GP surgeries, supporting the NHS and helping people to connect and stay active.
Many of us struggle with social isolation and poor mental health, and don’t just need medical services. We need social contact. This includes 7% of patients who use 30-40% of a surgery’s appointments.
About the Service
From November 2023 to January 2024, Hackney patients spent over 6,000 hours in Together Better activities, building stronger connections, improving skills, boosting mental and physical health, and relieving pressures on the NHS. Our activities happen weekly in GP surgeries across Hackney and the City, offering art sessions, fitness groups, coffee mornings, and yoga sessions for all registered patients.
