Parents supporting parents through volunteering

Young Hackney are looking for Hackney parents to join the Parent Champions community and help share their expertise with those who will benefit most. Parent Champions are made up of parent volunteers who spend time with other parents to share information, explain the benefits of local service and raise awareness of relevant support for parents and families.

Without knowing what services are available, parents in Hackney can feel lost and subsequently their children might miss out on available support. Based on the simple idea that parents are the best people to support other parents, the programme aims to help bridge the divide and assist families to grasp the opportunities available to them.

Through informal chats, Parent Champions are able to share their own positive experiences of early help and support families who may be facing barriers to access.

Young Hackney will be holding two casual drop-in meetings online for parents to find out more, on Monday 19th October at 5pm. Just click the link to join.

For more information on how to get involved, contact Young Hackney at elp@hackney.gov.uk
