Volunteering for Hackney is a new project launched by Hackney Council to provide small grassroots community groups that operate at a very local level (no staff or maximum of one paid staff) with structured strategic support, to help them thrive and grow.

Groups will receive:

  • help with fundraising,
  • free meeting rooms,
  • help with social media and communications,
  • promotion and publicity of activities,
  • free training on topics such as recruiting and managing volunteers, safeguarding and making volunteering more inclusive,
  • being part of a new and exciting high profile project in Hackney.

Mayor of Hackney, Philip Glanville, said: “The work volunteers and community groups do in the borough underpins all that we are trying to achieve in making Hackney a better, fairer and more sustainable borough. I am passionate about community action being central to our political debates”.
