New and additional guidance for groups and organisations

Since our last update, VCH has lots of new and additional guidance that could help you and your group. Check out some of the new info below, and let us know if you have any questions or advice that could be shared with others by emailing us at info@vchackney.org

Donating clothes
We are following Public Health guidance which advises against used clothes donation as they can carry a possible infection risk. If you can donate new clothes, please do so.

Buying groceries for people with dietary requirements
Check out these useful tips on what to include in grocery shops for people with dietary requirements.

Hackney Council live information sheet
Hackney Council have created a live information sheet which will be updated with relevant information as the COVID-19 crisis evolves. It is intended to be a reference tool for any professionals, groups and individuals who are receiving calls and emails of help from residents with information on available support.

Support for refugee and migrant groups
Please see this link for support and guidance on how to support migrants and refugee groups.

Please continue to refer residents who need either food or prescription deliveries by clicking here. This means that Hackney Council can ensure that the most vulnerable residents get holistic help and support and can be appropriately referred.

Befriending
VCH is developing an offer for volunteers to be able to deliver emotional telephone support to local residents, and will be refining this offer over the next couple of weeks. This will include a screening and matching process, training and group supervision. If you’d like to find out more, are thinking of extending your current provision or want training for current volunteers, email us at info@vchackney.org with BEFRIENDING in the subject line.

Please continue to check our guidance for groups and organisations page for updates on all COVID-19 related queries.
